Shared hosting provider Easy CGI offers upgrade to .NET 3.5
Pearl River, NY -- Easy CGI, a leading provider of Windows hosting, is launching .NET 3.5 hosting for all customers of its shared hosting plans. The seamless upgrade enables current customers to take advantage of all the new features this updated version of .NET Framework offers. As with all upgrades, Easy CGI carried out extensive performance, compatibility and reliability testing, before launching .Net Framework 3.5.
The 3.5 release builds incrementally on new features previously added in .NET 2.0 and 3.0, so current sites built using those earlier versions should enjoy a seamless migration to .NET 3.5. Expansions on previous versions with ASP.NET AJAX, the ability to use Language Integrated Query (LINQ), and a variety of other new tools for developers, make it simpler and faster to build applications using Windows Presentation Foundation, Windows Communication Foundation and Windows Workflow Foundation.
The newly released Visual Studio 2008, an integrated development environment, can also target .NET Framework 3.5 or previous versions.
Some of the new features and tools in .NET Framework 3.5 include:
new product and item templates
Auto-Host for self-hosted WCF services
Enhanced duplex/async messaging
Ability to author services as a workflow
Better support for the growing variety of web protocols, formats and services
Support for all the new WS- services, such as WS-ReliableMessaging, WS-AtomicTransaction, and WS-Trust/WS-SecurityPolicy
“Many of our customers stay in tune with the latest technologies, so we anticipated a large number of requests to upgrade to Framework 3.5,” said Ted Beckwith, VP of Easy CGI. “Now, our customers have all the new features and tools of .NET Framework 3.5 to push boundaries in their developments.”

HostReview.comFriday, December 14, 2007; 03:47 AM
Lexington, MA — BladeLogic, Inc. (Nasdaq: BLOG), a leading provider of next-generation data center automation software, announced the findings of a data center automation survey the company conducted last week. The survey was part of a webinar hosted by BladeLogic entitled, “Turning Your Data Center into a Profit Center.” Over 400 IT managers and executives from leading global organizations registered for the webinar, which featured a live roundtable discussion with senior-level IT executives from E*Trade, General Dynamics and VeriSign. The interactive online survey was designed to poll the audience on key issues regarding each organization’s IT management strategy. As part of the survey, when the audience was asked what were the most critical elements in the data center that demand automation, over 90% of the respondents selected servers and applications. Respondents also overwhelmingly responded that configuration management, over other areas such as service monitoring and problem management, was the top management function that required automation.“The results of the webinar survey clearly indicate that in order to make the biggest impact on addressing the cost, risk and complexity of managing the data center, automating the management of servers and applications is a priority,” said Vick Viren Vaishnavi, vice president of marketing, BladeLogic, and moderator for the webinar. “With attendees representing nearly every major industry segment, the survey responses clearly demonstrate that configuration management is an important priority for most IT organizations.”In the webinar, the executives from E*Trade, General Dynamics and VeriSign discussed their best practices for automating their data center environments and the business benefits they have experienced by doing so. These leading IT executives also shared their data center automation insights, business drivers for automation, key challenges, critical risks and lessons learned. The webinar panelists indentified major cost savings in areas such as:• data center operations costs by improving server to administrator ratios; • administration costs by consolidating tools and centralizing management of multi-vendor, multi-platform environments;• provisioning costs by consolidating and centralizing all activities across platforms;• compliance audits by automating the enforcement of compliance policies; • software deployment costs through increased accuracy of distributed application rollouts across environments;• service downtime costs by enabling fast rollback of incorrect configuration changes; • and operating costs by automating manual and error-prone procedures.Among the many best practices cited by the webinar panelists, the ones that were credited as critical to reducing costs were:• workload sharing that enables IT organizations to handle operational tasks using lower cost resources;• shared services that enable a platform agnostic operations model for consistent management across platforms;• and adopting a policy-based approach to implement and enforce continuous compliance to reduce misconfigurations that cause service downtime. To view an archived version of this webinar, please visit the BladeLogic website at: http://www.bladelogic.com.About BladeLogic (NASDAQ:BLOG)BladeLogic is a provider of leading data center automation software with a large installed base of Fortune Global 500 customers, including 21 of the top 100 global companies, 3 of the top 10 aerospace and defense companies, 7 of the top 25 commercial and savings banks, 3 of the top 5 securities companies, 2 of the top 3 entertainment companies, 2 of the top 3 general merchandisers, 7 of the top 12 pharmaceutical companies and 7 of the top 10 telecommunications companies. Technology Support at the Cost of Customer Service
A leading provider of adaptable web software solutions, application development and consulting services, Phase2 Technology specializes in solving unique business challenges by providing consulting and technical solutions in practice areas that include: content management, membership and constituent management, CRM, online news and publishing, community tools and identity management. At the core of Phase2’s business objectives is providing tangible technical expertise with personalized and effective customer service that caters to the best interest of its clients.
With the amount of service and support that Phase2 offers its clients, the company knew it would be difficult to manage a data center with the same resources it devotes to technology development and customer management. To help it maintain focus on customers, the company opted to outsource several IT functions including the deployment, maintenance, and administration of their customer supporting, public facing network. In selecting a hosted provider, Phase2 was looking for more than just a technology company; they wanted a long-term partner that would understand not only their technology and business objectives, but also those of their clients.

Web Host IntelWeb.biz Offers Cheap Web Hosting for Small Sites
April 08, 2009 - Web hosting provider IntelWeb.biz is taking a shot at the low cost web site market. Following the trend behind Yahoo's free SMB hosting and Google's free blog hosting, IntelWeb is offering hosting packages from $3 per year to $25.
3 dollars buys you 10 MB of disk space and 150 MB of monthly transfer while the largest package they advertise is for 200 MB of space and 3.5 GB of transfer.
It seems this trend among web hosts is aimed at emerging businesses or more established businesses with no or low web presence in order to gain as large a market share as possible and then expand with their customers as their sites grow.
It's hard to imagine a fully-fledged commercial web site staying under 200 MB of disk space let alone 10.
The prices are great for small time entrepeneurs now but it will be interesting to see what the market looks like down the road when things have consolidated.

iomart Managed Hosting Announces New Website
HostReview.comWednesday, April 8, 2009; 06:54 AM
iomart hosting, the managed hosting and data centre services company, has introduced a new brand identity which the company said reflects its focus on hosting.
According to the company announcement, the new identity is intended to reinforce iomart's commitment to integrating realistic and energy efficient stewardship into every aspect of its business, particularly its 4 UK data centres, for the benefits of its clients.
Phil Worms, Marketing Director, stated: “Data centres and server rooms are by design, un-environmentally friendly buildings and they will never be ‘green’. The internet is driving the world’s economy and the demand for computing power keeps rising and it’s a trend that does not show any signs of slowing. Over the past few months, we have implemented several initiatives which tangibly demonstrate our desire to sensibly address the issues that our industry faces.”
“For example, we are founder signatories of the EU Data Centre Code of Conduct committing us to implement the Code’s energy efficiency best practice, meet minimum procurement standards, and annually report our energy consumption. We have added a range of standard virtualised servers to our core product portfolio and we are about to roll out an online control panel, which provides every one of our hosting customers with real time access to their server’s energy and bandwidth consumption straight from the rack.”
“At the end of the day, iomart hosting sells peace of mind to its customers. Our customers expect high availability, resilience and guaranteed SLA’s as standard, but by hosting with us they also have the added confidence that we are actively seeking to reduce hosting operational costs, both financial and environmental, on their behalf.”
As part of the rebrand process, iomart hosting has extended its online presence through a new web site (http://iomarthosting.com), and social networking sites such as twitter and Facebook.
